A post-purchase review request is a short SMS + email journey that asks the buyer for a rating and comment a few days after delivery — so you collect real UGC instead of hoping they wander back to the product page.

What is a post-purchase review request?

It is a lifecycle flow: capture an order completed/delivered event, wait until the customer can actually judge the product, then send one clear call to action — leave a review for that SKU. Iranian WooCommerce merchants already buy plugins that do exactly this (timed SMS/email with a review link) because shoppers expect a Digikala/SnappFood-style ask.

Why shops ask for this now

Before Black Friday and year-end pushes, thin review sections kill conversion even when ads click. Reviews also surface operations issues (packaging, sizing, description mismatch) early.

Timing that does not annoy people

Copy principles

SMS: brand + short product cue + one link + opt-out. Email: product image, button, invite honest feedback (including negatives). Avoid triple-pings in 24 hours, login mazes, or stuffing a big coupon into the first ask.

Sample SMS and email you can adapt

SMS (after delivery):
“[Brand] thanks for buying [short product]. Got 60 seconds for a rating? [link] Reply STOP to opt out”

Email subject ideas: “How did [product] work for you?” / “Your feedback helps the next shopper”

Email body: one product image, one button, one sentence that honest negatives are welcome for improvements. Keep secondary links (support, returns) in the footer so the primary CTA stays the review.

Incentive design without buying fake five-stars

If you reward reviews:

  • Prefer a small thank-you after submit, not a bounty that only pays for five stars;
  • Never require a public photo for the base rating;
  • Disclose briefly if a coupon was earned for leaving feedback where your market expects it;
  • Watch for a sudden pile of identical five-star one-liners — that pattern hurts trust more than empty stars.

Ops loop: reviews are not only marketing

Route 1–2 star reviews into a human queue (Live Chat or ticket). Marketing can collect UGC; operations must close the loop on sizing, breakage, and late delivery. A review journey that gathers complaints into a black hole trains customers to stop answering.

Transactional vs promotional

A bare “please review order #123” is often treated near-transactional; the moment you attach a next-purchase coupon, treat it as promotional and respect SMS marketing consent.

Implementation checklist

  1. Define entry event with order id + SKU;
  2. Delay by category, not one global number;
  3. Filter cancellations, refunds, missing channels, already-reviewed;
  4. SMS first (or parallel email);
  5. Exit on review_submitted when you can track it;
  6. Optional single thank-you;
  7. Monitor CTR, review rate, opt-outs for two weeks.

Common mistakes

Asking at payment time; one delay for every category; broken links; ignoring consent when the message is promotional; never answering public 1-star reviews; shipping the flow with no metrics.

How this maps to Leadara (truthful)

Leadara gives you events, segments, and journeys; SMS goes out through your Kavenegar or Nikaline connection:

  1. Sync purchase/completion into the profile;
  2. Build a delayed journey (branch by category if needed);
  3. Add SMS + email steps with the real review URL;
  4. Exit when a review is recorded or the order is refunded;
  5. Use AI Chat inside the dashboard only as an internal drafting assistant — not a customer-facing reply bot;
  6. Use Live Chat for human support when a bad review needs a person;
  7. Do not invent WhatsApp/Telegram connectors that are not in your workspace docs.

FAQ

How many days after purchase should I ask?

Usually 3–7 days after delivery for physical goods; sooner for digital. Judgable experience beats a fixed superstition number.

Is SMS enough?

SMS gets seen; email explains. Use both lightly, not as duplicate spam.

What if the review is negative?

Handle with human support. Fix the issue; never bully the customer into editing stars.

Can a coupon lift review rates?

Yes — preferably after submit or in a second touch, and only with marketing consent.

Should non-buyers enter this journey?

No. Keep lead nurture separate from buyer review asks.

Send 10 internal test orders and complete a review end-to-end before full launch.

Can web push replace SMS?

Complement, rarely replace, unless your opted-in push coverage is proven.

Does Leadara AI Chat answer review complaints on-site?

No. AI Chat is an internal team assistant. Customer replies stay with Live Chat / humans.
