Session Replay

Watch real visits to your site, see where people get stuck, and jump straight to the moments that matter.

Session replay records how people use your website, so you can watch a visit the way the visitor saw it. It's for marketers, product teams and support teams who want to understand why a page isn't converting, what confused someone, or what happened right before a customer reached out.

What you can do

  • Find the recordings worth watching — sort by most recent, most active or longest, and filter by visited page, device, known or anonymous visitors, and visits with rage clicks. Very short visits with almost no activity are hidden unless you ask for them.
  • See the important details at a glance — each recording shows the person (or "Anonymous visitor"), the landing page, device, browser, country, active time versus total time, number of pages, an activity level, and badges for rage clicks and dead clicks.
  • Watch in a real browser frame — the address bar follows the visitor from page to page, so you always know where they are.
  • Use a timeline that shows what happened — an activity graph, dots for page changes, markers for rage clicks and tracked events, and shaded quiet stretches. Hover to preview the time and page, click or drag to jump.
  • Skip the boring parts — inactivity is skipped automatically. Play at 0.5× up to 16×.
  • Follow along in the activity list — every page visit, rage click and tracked event, highlighted as the recording plays. The Pages tab shows how long they spent on each page.
  • Share an exact moment — copy a link that opens the recording at the current second.
  • Move through a list quickly — go to the previous or next recording without leaving the player.
  • Start from a person — on any person's profile, open Session recordings to see only their visits.
  • Delete a recording — remove it for everyone on your team.

How it works

Once recording is on for your website, new visits usually appear in the list within a minute or two, and you can start watching while a long visit is still loading. If a visitor had more than one tab open at the same time, you can pick which tab to watch.

Open Recording settings from the Session replay page to control what's captured:

  • Record visits — turn recording on or off for the whole workspace. Until you change it here, Leadara follows the setting in your website code.
  • Share of visits to record — record only part of your traffic on busy sites.
  • Skip visits shorter than — ignore visits that end after a few seconds.
  • Hide what people type — form fields show as dots. Passwords are always hidden, whatever you choose.
  • Hide all text on the page — for pages that show personal information.
  • Pages never to record — one page per line, with * as a wildcard (for example /account/*).
  • Automatic events — time on page, scroll depth and rage clicks, which also power the Analytics overview.

How long recordings are kept depends on your plan. The settings panel shows your current retention, and recordings are removed automatically when they expire.

Tips

  • Start from Frustrating pages on the Analytics overview. It links straight to recordings with rage clicks on that page.
  • Sort by Most active to skip visits where nothing much happened.
  • On high-traffic sites, record a share of visits instead of all of them. You'll still see the patterns.
  • Mention session recording in your privacy policy, and add account, checkout or payment pages to Pages never to record if they show sensitive details.
